Pregnant during the pandemic: Birth, delivery and fear during coronavirus
Giving birth in a pandemic is a terrifying task, during what is already one of life’s most challenging milestones. In Washington State, where the first COVID-19 cases emerged and wide community spread was evident, we experienced the first glimpses of life in a pandemic. In mid-April, I, along with reporter Crystal Paul and photographer Erika Schultz, spoke with pregnant people and their providers as they reimagined plans and confronted fears of giving birth during this unprecedented time.
