I worked with reporter Lynda Mapes, video journalist Ramon Dompor, photographer Erika Schultz and illustrator Fiona Martin to explore the controversy surrounding Washington’s cutting of “legacy forests.” These are not old growth, which are already protected. These are naturally regenerated forests that have been cut once, and which could become the old-growth forests of tomorrow.
